Terme de philosophie. Action de fixer la pensée sur un objet.

   Provenç. cogitatio ; anc. espagn. cogitacion ; ital. cogitazione ; du latin cogitationem, de cogitare qui avait donné le verbe cuider. L'ancien français avait cuizançon, formation en rapport avec cuider.
