Terme de marine. Crique cachée entre deux mornes sur les côtes de l'Amérique et servant de refuge aux caboteurs.
   À l'égard de celles [cargaisons] qui sont moindres et dont les barques anglaises, hollandaises, françaises et danoises sont ordinairement chargées, on les porte dans les estères, c'est-à-dire aux lieux d'embarquement ou embarcadères qui sont éloignés des villes, ou aux embouchures des rivières, LABAT Voyages, t.
