(èk-spor-té) v. a.
Transporter à l'étranger les produits du sol ou de l'industrie nationale.
   Que, dans tous les gouvernements, on protége également les travaux de toute espèce, et que, sans restriction, sans interruption, on permette d'exporter et d'importer les choses même les plus nécessaires ; alors toutes les nations seront riches, et leurs richesses respectives seront en raison de la fertilité du sol et de l'industrie des habitants, CONDILLAC Comm. gouv. I, 29.

   Cette province, nous l'avons supposé, s'est aussi interdit tout commerce extérieur ; elle ne peut donc pas exporter : ses blés seront donc à un prix d'autant plus bas, qu'elle en a plus et qu'il lui en faut moins, CONDILLAC ib. I, 20.
   S'exporter, v. réfl. Être exporté. Ces marchandises s'exportent en grande quantité.
   Lat. exportare, de ex, hors, et portare, porter.
   Exporter se trouve dans le XIVe siècle avec le sens de porter hors : Et ainsi est l'orine esportée entre les deux tuniques de la vessie, H. DE MONDEVILLE f° 30.
