   Ce diable d'homme a toujours ses poches pleines d'arguments irrésistibles [d'argent], BEAUMARCH. Barb. de Sév. IV, 8.
   Terme de théologie. Grâce irrésistible, grâce à laquelle on ne peut résister. Croire que la grâce est irrésistible est une hérésie.
   À qui on ne peut résister, contre lequel on ne peut se défendre. C'est un homme irrésistible.
   Lat. irresistibilis (QUICHERAT, Addenda), de in... 1, et resistere, résister.
