(mèr-kan-ti-l') adj.
   Qui a rapport au commerce, qui se livre au commerce.
   Il faut convenir que la littérature, car c'est ainsi que cela s'appelle, a beaucoup gagné du côté des spéculations mercantiles, LAHARPE Corresp. t. IV, p. 210.
   Le calcul décimal peut convenir à un peuple mercantile, CHATEAUB. Génie, IV, I, 4.
   Arithmétique mercantile, celle qui n'est propre qu'aux marchands, pour la distinguer de celle des géomètres, des algébristes, etc.
