Caractère du misanthrope, haine des hommes.
•   Ma misanthropie augmentant tous les jours, je déclarai que je ne voulais plus recevoir personne, GENLIS Voeux téméraires, t. I, p. 178, dans POUGENS.
   Terme de médecine. Aversion pour les hommes et pour la société, c'est un symptôme de la mélancolie et de l'hypocondrie.
   Terme dérivé d'un mot grec signifiant misanthrope.
