   L'Académie écrit optimè avec un è et novissimé avec un é. Ces deux adverbes doivent prendre le même accent l'un que l'autre, mais lequel ? Si l'on veut indiquer la prononciation française, il faut mettre l'accent aigu dans les deux cas ; si l'on veut suivre l'orthographe latine, il ne faut mettre d'accent ni dans l'un ni dans l'autre, car les Latins n'accentuaient pas leurs adverbes, et l'accent grave n'est qu'une habitude de classe dans les colléges français. C'est donc l'accent aigu qu'il faudrait mettre, dans un dictionnaire, à tous ces adverbes.
   Lat. optime, adverbe de optimus, qui est un superlatif (op-tumus), de la racine op, ap, obtenir.
