postulation
(po-stu-la-sion) s. f.
1°   Terme de jurisprudence. Action d'occuper pour une partie, de faire toutes les procédures dans une affaire. Le droit de postulation appartient aux avoués qui sont institués pour conduire la procédure.
   Postulation illicite, se dit de celui qui, n'étant pas avoué, fait habituellement des actes de procédure.
2°   Terme de droit ecclésiastique, particulièrement en parlant des bénéfices d'Allemagne. Demande, par les électeurs d'un bénéfice ou d'une dignité, de nommer une personne qui ne peut être élue selon les canons.
   XIIIe s.

   XVIe s.
•   Le pape n'envoie point en France legats à latere.... sinon à la postulation du roy très chrestien ou de son consentement, P. PITHOU 11.
