Terme anglais qu'on emploie quelquefois au sens d'humaniste, d'homme versé dans l'étude des langues classiques, et surtout avec un sens moqueur en parlant des hommes de collége ou qui en ont conservé les habitudes.
   Angl. scholar, qui est notre mot écolier. En anglais on ne dit pas scholar tout seul, mais classical scholar, greek scholar, etc.
