(sin-don) s. m.
   Le linceul dans lequel Jésus-Christ fut enseveli ; on le distingue du suaire, qui n'était qu'un mouchoir dont son visage était couvert.
   Terme de chirurgie. Petit morceau de toile ou petit plumasseau arrondi, soutenu par un fil attaché à sa partie moyenne, qu'on introduit dans l'ouverture faite au crâne avec le trépan.
   XIVe s.
   Aportez moi trois sydoines de soye, et envelopez d'iceulx le corps de Adam, DU CANGE sindon..
   En grec, toile fine de lin, probablement du grec, indien ; du moins voyez dans Hésychius.
