1°   Action de spolier. Il fut victime d'une infâme spoliation.
2°   Il se dit des monuments qu'on dépouille.
•   Quoique, depuis l'adoption du christianisme, les tombeaux des rois et des grands fussent ordinairement dans l'enceinte des monastères.... leur spoliation offrait trop d'appât et de facilité pour ne pas devenir très commune, LEGRAND D'AUSSY Instit. Mém. scienc. mor. et polit. t. II, p. 453.
3°   Terme d'administration. Soustraction des valeurs que contient une lettre. Le chargement ne prévient que la soustraction des lettres, et ne met pas obstacle à la spoliation des valeurs qu'elles peuvent contenir, Commiss. internat. des postes, p. 43.
